Distance Learning

Planning a training session or conference on a limited budget?

Bogged down by travel costs and meeting logistics?

Distance learning may be your solution!

The Emory Centers staff specialize in the use of technology for distance learning, and collaborate with our clients to customize and deliver interactive teleconferences, webinars, e-conferences, and web-based courses that will meet their training goals.

Webinars and virtual conferences

We use the latest in virtual media and social networking technology to provide a powerful learning and networking experience. Our expert facilitators, trainers, and tech gurus are there at every step of the way: we will manage conference logistics, convene thought-leaders and practitioners from the field, provide support to maximize the benefits of this technology, and evaluate the session.

Our ePACE virtual conferences incorporate all of the components and benefits of in-person training. ePACE stands for Educate, Practice, Apply, Collaborate and Evaluate. The Emory Centers team can collaborate with you to deliver an interactive ePACE-style session. Click here to learn more about ePACE virtual conferences.

Examples of our work:

Web-based courses

The Emory Centers staff also lead web-based courses several times a year. These interactive, mentored distance-learning programs provide:

  • An engaging learning experience with visual aids, group discussion, self-assessments, and individual learning activities designed to apply the concepts covered in each module.
  • Practical skills. Participants will apply program planning and evaluation concepts presented in the lessons, and be given tools and resources they can use in their work.
  • A supportive learning environment. Participants receive feedback and support from the instructor throughout the course.
  • Convenience. There are no scheduled class meetings, allowing participants the flexibility to complete the coursework at their convenience during the allotted timeframe for the course, and in the comfort of their own home or office.

Fundamentals of Evaluation

This 12-week course provides basic information and applied activities to gain the skills needed to develop a comprehensive evaluation plan. Participants learn about the importance of program evaluation, what to expect from their evaluation efforts, what is involved in an evaluation, and how to develop an evaluation plan. By the end of the course, participants will develop a comprehensive evaluation plan for a program of their choice. This course is also available upon request as a two-day on-site training.

Logic Model Essentials

This six-week web-based distance learning program begins with a basic introduction to logic models, and includes activities that provide practical experience with developing and using logic models. Participants will learn the purpose and characteristics of logic models, how to develop a logic model, and how to use logic models for planning, evaluation, and education.
